RGA: LEEDing the Way in Smart Buildings

The new Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) world headquarters is one of the most technologically advanced, highly-sophisticated corporate campuses in the entire Midwest. From initial planning and development to construction and building management, RAFCO was honored to play an integral role consulting and designing this high IQ facility.

Designed by Fox Architects to create more “we space” than “me space”, RGA and its Design/Build Contractor CLAYCO entered the project with the intention of dramatically reinventing the corporate culture with an emphasis on sustainability, energy efficiency, employee well-being, and long term cost control. RAFCO’s Autogration® system design made significant contributions towards these goals.

RAFCO supplied in-depth consultation services on virtually every facet of construction for RGA’s breakthrough headquarters located in Chesterfield, Missouri. The structure consists of two high-tech, five-story glass office towers connected through a two-story stone clad amenity base that hides the underground parking structure. The entire facility is 405,000 square feet and can accommodate 1,450 people.

To help ensure the development’s success, RAFCO was part of the initial team of professionals to address the environmental, economic, physical and political issues impacting a project of this scope. At each step in the process, RAFCO collaborated closely with a number of professionals, including architects, city planners, engineers, surveyors, inspectors, contractors, leasing agents, attorneys, lenders and others. As part of RGA’s custom plan, RAFCO conducted a comprehensive search and introduced the exclusive Bon Appetit catering service and Optum Fitness to run important on-site amenities.
